Sunset Cruise aboard the Starfish

We opted for the short 2 hour sunset "romantic" cruise aboard the catamaran STARFISH". It held about 7 couples and ran $25 each including open bar (which was mainly rum type drinks). It sailed along the western shore leaving from the Pelicans Nest (right down from the Marriott) and sailing down the coast to about the airport then up the coast to the California Lighthouse. The initial course was close enough to shore where you could view the other resorts seaside. Then we headed out to sea where the fun began and the "romantic" part ended as the winds were blowing about 35 and the old STARFISH was plowing thru the seas sending up sprays of seawater. The guys loved it but the ladies weren't too thrilled. The highlight of the trip was when my windsurfing instructor buddy, Wesley came flying by and did some jumps for us (photos a few pages ahead). The exciting part is when Wesley fell right in front of the moving sailboat and the Captain was forced to run right over him. Fortunately the boat was a catamaran and he was able to steer it so the downed windsurfer went between the pontoons. Very exciting and was worth the $25.
Red Sails tours operated out of the Marriott and seemed to have newer boats. I would check them out as another option. |
